Meet Nico

 Hi, I’m Nico Martinez, founder of Tekee Design Build. Here is a little background about myself and the experience that shaped the way I approach every project.

I hold a Bachelor of Architecture from Universidad de Los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia, and I am a licensed architect in Colombia as well as a licensed residential contractor in North Carolina.

My career began in high-end residential design, where I developed a deep appreciation for thoughtful architecture, refined details, and the emotional connection people have with their homes. Early in my career, I also worked in construction as a carpenter, giving me a hands-on understanding of how drawings become real spaces. That foundation shaped the way I still approach every project today: with respect for both the vision and the craft required to build it well.

Since 2009, I have built a multidisciplinary career across the design and construction industry, combining architectural design, construction management, facilities planning, and technology-driven project delivery. My experience includes work on high-profile projects for organizations such as Harvard University, major healthcare institutions, and large commercial and life sciences teams.

Over the years, I have developed strong expertise in BIM, VDC, laser scanning, clash detection, and construction coordination. These tools allow me to plan more accurately, identify problems earlier, and improve project execution before work begins in the field.

After nearly 20 years in the industry, I founded Tekee Design Build with a clear purpose: to create a better experience for homeowners. Tekee combines design insight, construction knowledge, and advanced technology to plan projects more clearly, reduce surprises, improve coordination, and deliver beautiful results with greater confidence from start to finish.

My goal is simple: to help clients make better decisions, feel more informed throughout the process, and enjoy a smoother path from idea to finished home. Every project is led with the perspective of someone who understands both the creative side of design and the practical realities of building.
